September 10th, 1904.

I have the honour to acknowledge Your Lordship's despatch No. 211 of July 19th, on the subject of the Hung Ch'üan-Fu murder case, in which Your Lordship expresses approval of Mr. Campbell's proceedings.

I have now received a further despatch from the Acting British Consul-General at Canton, enclosing copy of a Note from the Viceroy, in which His Excellency stated that Admiral Ho had been removed from his post, and that the minor officials concerned had been dismissed. Mr. Campbell replied to the Viceroy that the terms of settlement having thus been fully carried out, the case might be considered closed.
